International Tree Foundation - Dorset Branch

Our current Branch Officers are:
Mrs R M Palmer - Chairman
David King - Treasurer
Mrs J E Pearson - Secretary

From our Chairman - "The way to get the most out of your membership is to JOIN IN - go to events - even volunteer for a job.  I sometimes wonder who is out there!  I welcome letters from members and always try to deal with matters that they raise."

There are at least 3 ways to volunteer other than tree planting if you are not up to that:
You can recruit a new member - MAKE US STRONGER!
You could help deliver display posters of events - SAVE US POSTAGE!
Join our Tree Survey - KEEP US ALERT TO TREE TROUBLE!

Please contact Rachel Palmer on 01929 462423 or e-mail david.king@gbpltd.co.uk with any queries on our events or matters for the committee.

As a Branch we undertake about 3 plantings a year with member participation - so you can get your boots dirty if you want to!  We hold a series of Educational 'Tree' lectures during the winter months and have at least one site visit to woodland, arboreta, tree-rich parkland or gardens or special plant collections.  These are usually within Dorset but we have been further afield to the New Forest, The Eden Project and Killerton Gardens.

We support individuals and bodies in campaigns to save trees where appropriate and have won several Appeal cases.  We liaise with other environmental organisations (e.g. CPRE and Dorset Naturalist Trust) to share expertise and achieve positive outcomes.  We also hold fundraising events.

The Tree Nursery Project Manipur, North-east IndiaAbroad, we have been supporting a Tree Nursery Project for the last 6 years in Manipur, North-east India.  We have sponsored 4 villages who have successfully set up tree nurseries - partly providing trees for their own use for timber, fuel and as a cash crop - but also to re-establish tree cover on the neighbouring hills where pressures have led to deforestation and erosion.  We are currently supporting our second group of 4 villages and at some stage would like to sponsor the planting of a community woodland.

Why not join us now.
